Live Performance
Few things can be as challenging for a photographer than shooting a live event- moving subjects, variable light, unpredictable choreography, but being able to capture a live performance in still photos is to make a record of moments that may never happen the same way again. As important as video can be, having stills of your acts or of your show means a greater ability to share your work and create content when video isn’t an option. I treat shooting live performances with the same eye as shooting portraits- it’s all about the face, capturing an intimate moment of connection between performer and audience, and I shoot both wide shots and closeups.
